Blue green won't return our money!

We vistited bluegreen resort at Hershey Pa. after 2 hours of promises we bought in, For 1200 points and it only cost us $200. down payment and $360. a month for six months. That was the sevice fee all we had to do was pay extras for are trips. We were going to get a cruise and a yacht trip for a week and 3 free vactions with R.I.C resorts, a deed in are names for a villia in the fountain hotel in Orlando FL. Plus a bunch of other things and 200 extra points per vaction. But when we got home. we got a call that they losted are bank reciptes and would'nt be able to get the nexts payment from the bank. So after think about how good everything was going to be I started to look into the promises they made which by the way turn out to be as hard as traveling on 1-95 @ rush hour we dicide not to send them are info again. because after all that was personal info that just up and walked away. we also asked them to return are money since we had 30 days to change are minds but we have yet to recive any money back and that was last july. I guess the saying is true if it sounds to good it more than likely is.

Bluegreen made me blue in the face

My family & I had the unpleasant experience of attending a bluegreen presentation on our last day of vacation at the Dells & it was dreadful. The no pressure tactics/leave when you want promises & free gifts were all a ploy to lure innocent victims into their snackpit! Prior to signing up & giving our $20 deposit, the representative made bluegreen sound great & that there was definitely no obligation to buy. We were naive to think that that would be the case. The moment we walked into the "pit" we knew it wasn't good. All the BS talk from all the pompous arrogant sales people was enough to make us want to vomit. No matter how many times we said no, it wasn't good enough. Since our sales guy was new to the job, he kept calling over his more experienced supervisor to coerce us to buy. They wouldn't let up, not even hearing our whining hungry 2 yr old, was releasing us from their evil cluthes. Once the "supervisor" got sick of us & knew we weren't going to sign anything, he then insinuated that we were there for the free gifts. Let me just say that no free item is worth that much to endure something so horrible! To not waste no more of their time, we were given our free gifts but after that overdeal, we returned them because we wanted nothing from those people to remind us of that awful experience.

We recently sat through the 120 minute presentation, and the sales person did a great job of hiding the "fine print". Fortunately, when I said "no", my wife and I didn't get the high-pressure, guilt pitch.

Maybe I was firm enough that they understood that my no mean no. We were also fortunate that we were given our $75 with no hassles for sitting through the presentation. I am very leary of the sales pitch that says, "for today only". That is a dead giveaway that something isn't quite right.

Now that I have read all the reviews, I'm certainly glad that we walked away. For those of you who are considering this "deal", I would be very, very cautious.

Getting screwed by Bluegreen

I purchased a time share from Bluegreen for Big Cedar Lodge and have never been able to stay there. They are always booked. When I tried to list it thru others, I never received any calls. They won't buy it, even for what I paid for it. They no longer rent out our points for us so we can at least make back our maintenance fees. This is not fair to the owners. We pay out the nose in purchasing the ownership and pay high maintenance fees and taxes. Does anyone know of anything we can do? I would love to get rid of it.

No I do not work for Bluegreen and all can say is it is about time the owners started to sue some of you complainers. You bought a timeshare .....

live with it .....

you should have known what you were buying. Stop trying to sue because you did not know what you were signing for

Guest

has anyone successfuly sued them ???

I stopped in a visitors center in Sieverville, TN and was offered discount tickets on shows to go to a Bluegreen presentation that they promised would only take 90 minutes. Liers; it took 5 hours of torture.

I almost fell for it. I actually signed the papers and then when they still kept pushing me around the the building to see different people I got a bad feeling in my gut that said, just say, NO and get out.

Boy am I glad I did after reading all the bad reviews. Their should be at least a 3 day right of cancellation for this scam.

Guest

I am working on trying to get rid of it as well. i have been a member for 4 years and have used it once and still had to pay extra for half my vacation cause the room wasn't available for the entire time i wanted it, so they charged me $69 per night.

Funny thing was we stayed in the same room. They never have anything available when you want it. I think the "owners" you right anything positive here are actually the salespeople that scammed us into buying the *** thing to begin with.

I was pissed about how they stopped letting us rent as well. If i am successful in getting out of this I will let you know

Free vacation

I admit I work for Bluegreen Resorts and I, like any consumer, read reviews. I am astonished by the ignorance of some of the people who post reviews. Lets be honest and look at the truth about these packages. Most people pay $49.00 for a two night hotel stay in a standard 3 star hotel room. They are required to attend a tour of at least 90 minutes and they receive a gift certificate for at least $50.00 which covers the $49.00 they have paid. The company is not a cheap vacation program. The object of the package is for TIMESHARE SALES. People must sign for most package purchases and must INITIAL beside all of the requirements. Yet, they often complain about it afterwards. Either they don't read what they sign or they expect everything for free. What do you expect for free?? A five star hotel?? Common sense has taken a backseat to ignorance as far as I'm concerned. Yes, every company will have people who may be dishonest but that is the exception and not the norm. The truth is that these tours are how average American's make a living. Nothing in life is free and if you think it is then you do not live in the real world.

My husband and I just got back from a "free" B/G vacation, and I have to agree 100% with the B/G employee here... We knew exactly what to expect when we paid the $49 for our weekend in Charleston.

We were respectful and interested during the sales presentation, we were even interested up to a point, but as soon as it became clear to us that they couldn't offer us a value we could live with, we said our thanks yous, our good-byes and left. Yes, they tag-teamed a bit (they've spent a lot of money to try to make this sale) but again, that's to be expected. We got our $50 gift cards, enjoyed our weekend in Charleston and went home happy. Consumer websites are always one-sided since folks are more eager to complain than commend.

Just remember folks, there's no such thing as a completely free lunch - but these "bate & snare" vacations come pretty close if you just take it for what it is.

Time shares aren't for everybody but they DO work for some people. It's worth a couple of hours of your time to find out if it works for you, and apparently it's worth $300-$400 to the companies to try to get your business, so don't be embarrassed about taking the bait w/out swallowing the hook.

Very skeptical

I was suppose to attend the 2 hour seminar tonight, but was told to reschedule because my husband was not with me. OK, that's fine so I came home to look up information about this company and saw most reviews are very negative and there are a lot of pissed off people. Now I am having second thoughts about even attending the "meeting". If I go, I am suppose to get a free 4-night cruise on Royal Carribean. Of course, we need to pay for flight to Florida, pay the port-fee and drinks on the ship. After reading so many bad reviews I am wondering if I should forget the whole thing. Anyone do the free cruise deal?

I've been getting calls non stop from these Bluegreen people for the last three days. When I called back today, a young professional smooth talker type told me that I had "won" a similar 4-day package.

Now, being a person who hasn't won anything since a cake in the 3rd grade I instantly became suspicious. Is it possible that I actually won a vacation in a contest I never applied for? Why are they so anxious to get a hold of me to give me something for free?

Nothing is free, kids. After reading all of these horrible reviews I'm going to go ahead and save a tank of gas and skip the meeting.

Guest

Tina,

Hi! Better to loose $158.00 then put up with this headache and heartache the rest of your life.

They are trying to scare you...they should have given you a paper that states what they are giving you for free in exchange for you attending.

Check that over...there might be more info...I wish we had checked before we went...they are banking..literally on your fear and your busy life, and your kids to think you won't do the research...you are better off not going...book a weekend away and be glad it will be paid for and you are done! Good luck!!!

Guest

I understand, we are scheduled to camp at one of their VA resorts very soon. We have already paid for the weekend ($80). We have to sit in on a sales presentation suppose to be 90-120 minutes.

However, after reading the reviews yesterday on this site we are deciding to cancel even though we will loose our $80. We have 3 children and do not want to be pressured and "kidnapped" as reported in a couple of the responses for 4 hours.

According to the rules if we cancel within 72 hours, they will not charge us additional $78 for a no-show. I'm skeptical about this for we can't loose $80 (but are willing to) but we can't loose an additional $78. I will fight it if they charge us.

Bluegreen will kill your credit

My husband and I bought a Bluegreen timeshare in Gatlinburg in 2006. We had no idea we were staying at a timeshare but they offered us our stay free to come and listen to the presentation. We went and finally they conned us with no maintenance fees till 2008, our stay would be refunded, and a free cruise. We finally agreed and paid $900+ and went to closing where we were asked were we promised anything for buying this timeshare, when we answered yes, the clsoing agent turned off the taperecorder and said no you cant say that it is illegal to promise someone anything in order for them to sign a mortgage. She told us all the promises would be fulfilled by their corporate office, unfortunately we werent smart enough to get up and leave then. We started the ACH debits monthly and everything was fine until our account was hacked and had to be closed. We opened a new bank account and had the bank fax Bluegreen the new acct # for the debit. They called approximately a month later and said it would'nt work, we went back to the bank had them refax it, it still wouldnt work, now mind you, nobody else had a problem with ACH's working. We then talked with Ron in collections and faxed him a voided check so he could try again, still wouldnt work. I then sent a check for 10 months of payments to keep it current, but they wouldnt take the check because they couldnt apply a direct payment to an account set up for ACH. I finally got tired of sending letters and calling and told Ron if I had to I would get an atty to straighten this out, when I said that he said if you are hiring an atty I can discuss this any further with you and hung up. Since then they have foreclosed, sent me a 1099, reported me as past due 1 year after the foreclosure and showed the loan paid in full all on the same account, they have killed my credit score, I have no other blemishes but this one, they won't return phone calls to me, my attorney or to the credit bureau, if anyone knows how to get out of this stranglehold, please let me know!!!! They are awful, and from what I have read more than a few think so.

Bluegreen knew I couldn't afford, but let me sign up anyway.

Bluegreen knew what my income was and let me sign up. Now I can't get out of this. They told me that this wasn't a timeshare. I found out a month later this wasn't true. I have several companies that want to buy my timeshare, but Bluegreen said that I couldn't. I would have to go with someone they recommend. With the economy the was it is I couldn't afford it then, so I certainly can't afford it now. I may have to file bankrupt. I don't know what to do. I went to the resort in Wisconsin Dells.

Under no circumstances should you blame BG for purchasing something you cannot afford. Grow up!

Take responsibility! I am pretty sure they did not have a gun to your head.

Guest

Personal financial responsibility is a reality, yes. Bluegreen's deceptive practices, however, are no one's personal responsibility. They tell you can sell your points, when in fact you can't.

Guest

IT IS BOTH PARTIES FAULT BECAUSE THEY DON'T TELL YOU EVERYTHING WHEN YOU GO TO THESE THINGS, THEY ONLY TELL YOU ENOUGH TO GET YOU TO SIGN ON THE DOTTED LINE. THEN EVERYTHING ELSE COMES WHEN YOU GET BILLS IN THE MAIL FOR EXTRA FEES. BELIEVE THAT!

Guest

In all fairness to the consumer some of us just don't take into consideration just how permanent these timeshare purchases are, those sales reps can be very convincing. I too purchased one I could not afford and have researched selling my timeshare points only to realize they do not appreciate in value, in fact they depreciate signficantly.

In all fairness to Bluegreen I have to say that I have enjoyed staying at their condo's in St Augustine-Orlando-Myrtle Beach, those facilities I have stayed at have been very nice, but if I had to do it again I would definitely not purchase a timeshare. For what you pay in mortgage payments per year you can go on a very nice vacation each year at any resort of your choosing.

I caution you unless you have plenty of money to waste and don't mind buying something you will never be able to unload, DON"T BUY A TIMESHARE.

Guest

Its their job to sell timeshares, and your job to know your finances don't waste space on this site just because you can't judge what you can afford. I could probably get financed on a Ferarri somewhere is it someone elses fault when I can't make the payment?

Guest

It is not the responsibility of the company to make sure that you are making a wise financial decision. I have never been asked by Walmart, or any other retailer if I was sure that I could afford what I was purchasing.

That is my responsibility. If you could not afford it, you should have said no. We were strapped too, and bought it, but that is our fault, not Bluegreens. You knew when you went for the sales pitch what you were up against, just as if you were walking on a car lot kicking tires with holes in your pocket.

We have been back to the resort for the "up-your-points" sales pitch and then we did turn it down, because it was a horrbile time for us. Just dont blame others for your bad choices.

BEWARE-Bluegreen Resorts quickly gives unclear information to get you to sign up!

Be careful before signing! After sitting through a two-hour presentation you will be so tired of people talking TO you and AT you that you begin to listen without fully hearing the details. I just signed up yesterday and they told me that it will take 30-45 days before I can make a reservation. Guess what?? After that time frame I will have entered the blackout period and I will not be able to book until September! After I will have paid seven months! By the way...there are no cancellations allowed! Run away as fast as you can!

Timeshare is good if you know how to use it. First of all, they do not hold a gun to your head.

They do not "make" you stay for a 3 hour presentation. You are an adult - hopefully, you can get up and leave. Dont blame them later. Secondly, read you documents - dont sign something you havent read.......simple.

Third, read everthing you are given about making a reservation and how the system works. If you dont understand - call the resort operations people - not the sales people. The sales people have done their job and will not take their time to explain. They are paid on sales.

The operations people are going to serve you in the future - treat them nicely. Dont be a *** because you bought something you now dont want. There are lots of perks for timeshare owners who know how to use what they bought. Like weeks for $199!

Learn to use it. Pay your fees on time - you agreed to be a member - be a good one.

Guest

read the contract. blackout dates are listed twice and they read it out loud to you before you sign.

don't be a fool. don't be be mad because you signed up for a program that has rules and regulations, if they didn't, idiots like you would screw everything up. it's a time-share, when you reserve a date, don't be a mindless punk and cancel. other people are relying on you keeping your date.

it makes it run smoothly.

i've been an owner for 2.5 years and if you plan ahead and have half a brain, it works pretty well. a lot of times you won't get your first choice of room but don't be a greedy, you're on vacation, shouldn't be in your room much anyways.

Bluegreen. Nothing but broken promises and lies.

Originally, we were lied to by the sales person on several issues. The only answer we could get from the company was that the company was not responsible for what their sales people say. We have recently upgraded our ownership. (I can't believe I got suckered again). Paid the loan off in full but they said my check bounced. Knowing that was impossible, I contacted my bank to find out that they had no record of a check being submitted. Our course, Bluegreen blamed me and would not resubmit the check. Funny thing, they would not send me a copy of the check though. I finally sent them another check, identical to the first. This time it clear but, you guested it, it didn't cover the late fees and interest. I tried to speak with the CSR, her supervisor, and the Mortgage manager but got absolutely no results. The $350 in fees is worth more than word-of-mouth adverstising, I guess. So here's my word-of-mouth advertising. When you deal with Bluegreen, expect lies, no call backs, poor customer service and expect to get screwed!!!

Also lied to by bluegreen salesperson

i also bought a bluegreen timeshare. it has not been all bad, but we were mislead by the salesteam. they will tell you that you are locked in on bonus time rates. they went up in less than 6 months of purchase. we were vacationing in st. augutine fl., and there was a couple visiting the resort. they had also been told the same lie. dont go to a owners update either its another 2-3 hrs of pressure for a upgrade sale. they insulted us that we were selfish to leave our children only 9000 pts. she didnt think college, and cars were as important.

Never able to use it always booked

I bought at Big Cedar Lodge near Branson, MO. The sells guy told me it was a home away from home. Just call a week in advance and we will get in either the lodge or cabin. Once we bought I tried for a year to into this place. I would get the same old run a round we are booked. Now I have had this property for several years and never used it. I never have paid my maintenance fees, but I am still paying monthly payments on the property. I would just give the property back to Bluegreen if I could get out of the monthly payments. If anyone has done this please let me know. Todd

Todd darling how do you sleep at nights knowing that you have told us a great big fat bag of lies.

If you dont pay your fees then Bluegreen foreclose on you (rightly so).

So Toddy boy less of the *** please or I may have to kiss and tell

Guest

We bought a package from Bass Pro Shops for a 4 day 3 night stay at Branson. When I phoned I asked if there was anyway to stay at Big Cedar Lodge.

We paid 100.00 extra to stay at the Lodge (not Blue/Green)

At check in th desk clerk asked if we would like a cabin, of course we would like a cabin. Our stay was great, except for the sales pitch we had to endure. We bought a 10,000 point sample package, we were told it would cover a two bedroom cabin for a week.....NOT.

If you have the chance to stay at Big Cedar, jump on it............look at Blue Green real careful before you sign anything and read the booklet on all the sites and how many points it takes to stay. Of our 10,000 it took 8,000 for a 2 bedroom in the lodge, not a cabin, for a week.

We have 2,000 left but don't think we will be able to use them before they go bad. LUCK

Guest

are you telling us porkie pies here Todd

you say you have never paid your MF if that is so then your credit rating must be well into minus by now

If you dont pay MF the Bluegreen put it in the hands of a debt recovery agent.

and just one more point if your account is not up to date ie mf then dear Todd

you can NEVER USE IT SINCE YOU OWE MONEY .

so come on less of the porkie pies and mor of the truth please

Guest

I tried that and even reported Bluegreen to the Attorney General and got no where, then we were called in for an update at Bluegreen resort close to us and went in and they gave us the new book and dinner tickets and said they could not talk to us because I reported them. They asked us to come in for an update then treated us like dirt!

A few people have been successful getting their money back by compaining via the Better Business Bureau. Hopefully , you have kept records of your reservation attempts to show them.

Phone Sales Called me a Retard

I was just on the ohne with a sales solicitation for G?B Resorts. Offered a gift valued at $3200.00 and included 4 airline tickets and all I had to pay was the lodging for the resort. I just priced out airline tickets to Las Vegas, Florida and CA. and I can get to any of these destinations for $200.00 / ticket and yes roundtrip and to England, Paris and other European cities for $700 per ticket. My sales person pointed out $2800 was close to the $3200 value and it would be only by lodging resort fees I would pay. When I said but why would I think the value up to $3200 is such a deal if I can get them for $4000 less, I was not interested and thankyou but I am not interested, he thought I hung up, but hadn't and he said", Oh, this retard, I can't take this". This "retard" is not willing to think $2800 is equal to the $3200 value they are "giving" away. Most of all I don't think I want to do business with people who call me a retard for asking a question or question?

BlueGreen charged us double what they said it would cost

We stayed at BlueGreen resorts at Boyne Mountain with the catch that we had to listen to their sales pitch. When we called to make the reservation they said we would be staying in a hotel in another town. We told her that we were told we could stay at the resort. She said that would cost an extra $50 dollars and we agreed that would be ok. When we got our bank statement the next month it showed that they charged us $100. We called to tell them they overcharged us but they said they didn't overcharge us because they charge $50 per night and we stayed two nights. They did not tell us $50 per night when we made the reservations though. We would not have stayed there because we really can't afford that. But they will not honor the price that we were told over the phone. To me that is stealing! To top it off, the last night that we stayed there we found out that we were sharing our room with cockroaches!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

Not only won't they remove mark on credit, they make it recent!

After a divorce in 2002, neither of us maintained payments to the timeshare and allowed it to go into foreclosure. Five years, I sent a letter to all three reporting agencies asking that it be removed from my credit rating. Not only did Bluegreen not remove the bad mark; they made it show that it was a repossession/foreclosure the very month I made the dispute...in 2007! This caused my credit rating to drop significantly, during a time when I was looking for refinancing on my home. I spoke with Mary Lou at Corporate and she assured me that it had been an honest mistake and would be removed within the next "FEW" months. Needless to say, they did take that entire time to have it removed from all three bureaus and I lost out on the opportunity to refinance.

On to 2008. After improving my score to nearly 650, I started working with Armor Credit Services, a company who will perform the disputes and keep hammering the creditors until they are removed. Again, after the first dispute with Bluegreen, they did the same thing all over again! My score dropped to below 600 on all three bureaus and I've again lost out on the great rates due to the current interest rate drops (this is now February, 2008). After again talking with Mary Lou, she assured me that it was just another honest mistake and the bad marks would be, yet again, removed within a very lengthy time period.

How many more people are they doing this to, and is there any recourse? I doubt it, but I can assure anyone reading this that I am pursuing every avenue to try to recoup any and every $ I have coming to me. If anyone else has experienced this type of treatment from Bluegreen, please respond to this message. I can't possibly be the only one.

"stop" obviously didn't read the entire post. They reported the RF as originally taking place in 2007, when it actually happened in 2002, five years earlier. My suggestion to "stop" would be to read up on fair credit reporting practices.

Guest

I do not know what you are complaining about. You bought a timeshare; if you like it or not you got yourself into a real estate purchase, and you didnt pay it.

If you didnt pay your house payment or car payment they would do the same thing. My only suggestion to you is be more responsible next time with your purchases.
