Husband and I went to the sales pitch in March of 2015 and at that time they made it sound wonderful but we explained that our travel time was limited due to family and job responsibilities. We explained that we generally only vacation once a year during the summer months.
During the presentation they stated it would be a no pressure sale but each time we stated that it wasn't for us at that time another sales person would come over with another offer. After being pressured for more than 4 hours we bought the sampler package. We were told we could make reservations as little as 24 hous in advance. After arriving home, we reviewed our calendar in June and decided that we would vacation the week after the Fourth of July, July 6-10.
While we were signing the papers at Blue Green, the sales person never stated that the sampler owners had black out dates for the months of June, July, and August, we did understand that the day before and day after a holiday were blackout dates and reserved for full owners, which we understood. Blue Green customer service was contacted and the situation was explained, the young woman was very polite and understanding and placed a waiver on our account under the circumstances allowing us to schedule a vacation in July. My husband then called on June 13th to arrange the vacation plans to be told everything in Myrtle Beach was booked which was our 1st choice. Seeing as Blue Green was trying to work with us we decided to be open and ask what was available anywhere just to be told there was nothing available except Las Vagas (not our idea of a relaxing family vacation) and to choose a different date.
Disappointed we decided that because of my husbands work schedule and the fact he had already been approved for July, we would pay for the vacation in July and use the points purchased in the sampler package for me and the children to take a vacation during one of their school breaks so that our 795.00 would not go to waste. We tried October and December and nothing was available.
Why would someone pay an enormous amount for a time share and never be able to go on their desired vacation? In order to get the time and destination desired you almost have to book a year in advance, not what was told to us, and if anything happens where you can not make your reservation then you are charged a cancellation fee.
